Age | 32 years old |
Nationality | Danish (Denmark) |
Current Team | Haas F1 Team |
F1 Debut | 2014 |
Kevin Magnussen is a Danish racing driver who currently competes for Haas in Formula 1. He was born in Roskilde, Denmark, to Jan Magnussen and Britt Petersen, on October 5, 1992. His father, Jan, would also go on to compete in F1 for McLaren. And as fate would have it, it was for McLaren that young Kevin made his F1 debut.
When did Kevin Magnussen join Formula 1?
Kevin Magnussen made his Formula 1 debut for McLaren at the 2014 Australian Grand Prix. It was certainly a weekend to remember – and with his P2 (due to Daniel Ricciardo’s disqualification), the young Dane was on cloud nine. However, the rest of the season didn’t live up to his debut. For the 2015 season, he was replaced by Fernando Alonso and became McLaren’s test and reserve driver. He then went to Renault in 2016, before moving to Haas, where he’s stayed ever since (with a year’s gap in 2021). Yet.
What are Kevin Magnussen’s achievements?
To this day, Kevin Magnussen’s highest finish remains the P2 he achieved on his debut. Since then, he’s unfortunately not finished on the podium. But in 2022, he did surprise everyone – by taking pole position at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. In a lower midfield car, no less. Apart from F1, he won the Danish Formula Ford Championship in 2008, and Formula Renault 3.5 in 2013.
