Nico Hulkenberg the soon-to-be Audi driver (currently at Haas), has opened up on the prospect of going up against the young F1 talents in his mid-30s (36). Hulkenberg is one of the most experienced drivers on the grid and feels, he still has what it takes to go wheel-to-wheel with the young crop of drivers.

Since returning to the sport, Nico Hulkenberg has proved himself as the standout performer against teammate, Kevin Magnussen. Moreover, in the first half of the ongoing campaign, he did the bulk of the point-scoring for the Haas outfit.

Hulkenberg currently does not see any reason for stepping away from F1.

To be honest, I'm turning 37, but that doesn't make me feel old or that I'm close to my expiration date. I think at the moment I still have what it takes. I think the other thing is: If I had the feeling that I could no longer keep up with the young kids, then I would probably stop on my own. But I'm not there yet. And I don't know when that will be, but that doesn't matter.

The German via his reaction, has made it known that he sees his aging body as just a number. He doesn’t feel as if he is losing his razor-sharp skills on the racing track and thus, has set his mind on racing until he no longer can keep up with the young guns in F1.

While Nico Hulkenberg has insisted on continuing to race for as long as possible, he feels the demands of F1 play a bit into a driver’s favor. To explain the same, he compared F1 to worldwide played sports like football and tennis.

And apart from that: Of course Formula 1 is physical, but it's not like football or tennis, where you run around and get problems with your joints or knees. It's a different kind of strain in Formula 1, and one that is less sensitive to age.

Hulkenberg has so far competed in a mammoth 217 Grand Prix. Keeping in view his current level of performance, there is a strong possibility he’ll be able to do wonders for Audi from 2025 onwards. The German carmaker is yet to fill the seat alongside Hulkenberg with top names like Sebastian Vettel linked with the team.
