Hass F1 driver, Kevin Magnussen has claimed Carlos Sainz is the main man influencing the decisions around the grid for the 2025 season. Sainz is set to leave Ferrari after four years and is currently rumored to be in the interests of many teams.

Carlos Sainz has showcased one of his most impressive runs this season, scoring four podiums and also winning the Australian Grand Prix. But despite his strong outings, the Spaniard is forced to make a move away from Ferrari after it was announced that Lewis Hamilton would be joining the team in 2025.

Kevin Magnussen was quick to point out during the press conference ahead of the Spanish GP that Carlos Sainz is one of the most sought-after drivers on the grid. Seven teams out of ten are yet to confirm their lineups for the coming season as many drivers negotiate for a contract across the paddock.

Kevin Magnussen is one of the nine drivers without a contract next season. Thus, he will look to put in good performances for the remaining two-thirds of the 2024 campaign in hopes of an extension at Haas. The upcoming races in Barcelona, Spielberg, and Silverstone will determine the future of many as the drivers chase for points and podiums this campaign.

Kevin Magnussen has opened up on what Haas has told the Danish driver with regards to a contract extension. Magnussen has not been on convincing form this season and is on the verge of a race ban due to an accumulation of 11 penalty points because of his misdemeanors on the track.

They’ve told me that they’re not in a rush, and that’s okay – they’re in control there. I think it’s a very open market at the moment, and lots of pieces have to fall in the puzzle. Slowly it’s starting to go together, and hopefully we’ll all have our future sorted quite soon.

Haas is currently without drivers for the upcoming season after Nico Hulkenberg announced that he would be joining Kick Sauber (Audi) in 2025. The American outfit is currently in rumored negotiations with many drivers but has yet to confirm any leads for the upcoming campaign.

Kevin Magnussen heads into the Spanish GP with just a single point over nine races. Thus, the 31-year-old will now look to perform adequately without conceding any more penalties in hopes of a spot on the grid for the upcoming campaign.
