The Cincinnati Bengals will have a new nightmare in the off-season, one that is named Rocky Arceneaux. The man has been an NFLPA-authorized agent since 1992 and knows the ins and outs of the business. After the season ends, he will negotiate huge contracts for his existing client Ja’Marr Chase, and his newest client, Tee Higgins.

The receiver duo of the Bengals is due for contract extensions with Ja’Marr Chase heading into the final year of his rookie deal in 2025 and Tee Higgins will require a lucrative long-term deal as he is presently on a one-year franchise tag. Chase was asked about his thoughts on Higgins signing with his agent.

Higgins was signed with David Mulugheta before but they parted ways a few weeks back. He made it clear that he did not actively pursue Higgins to sign with his agent but they had a few conversations and left it to the wideout as it was a purely business decision.

I just told him ‘We stuck for life now!’ There wasn’t really many conversations. It was a business decision. I’m not going to tell him what to do, it’s what he want to do at the end of the day. We locked in for life…

Ja’Marr Chase is vying to become the highest-paid non-quarterback player in NFL history

This signing comes at a crucial time as both Chase and Higgins have shown they are the heart and soul of the Bengals’ offense. Despite a disappointing 6-8 record this year, the trio comprising Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins have played phenomenally.

The former LSU wideout leads the league in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. He has made a resounding statement in a year that is crucial to his long-term prospects of staying with the organization. Chase is looking forward to being on the same financial boat as Tee Higgins.

We gonna be on trips on the off-season now, he gonna see me on the regular.

The biggest question, however, was if Rocky Arceneaux would be able to keep Higgins and Chase in Cincinnati in the off-season.

This is because Chase is looking to set a new standard and make waves in the wide receiver market with his new deal. He is hoping to eclipse Justin Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb’s contracts of $140 and $136 million respectively. Cincinnati will go all-in on him but after they do, it is unlikely that they will have enough resources to offer Higgins what he is looking for. There is a way for them to ensure both stay together but It would require them to put in place a proper contract structure and assure significant guarantees.

In the past few days, Joe Burrow has made his desire to retain both Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase. “I’d be very disappointed in that…Tee is a need,” Burrow said publicly putting pressure on the team’s front office to ensure a deal gets done. Higgins further iterated that he too wants to remain here but it is up to the team’s front office.
