After a slow start, Jordan Love finished last season as one of the star quarterbacks for leading his team to a playoff victory in his debut season. Although the 2024 campaign may not have unfolded as he expected, head coach Matt LaFleur has no complaints, believing the quarterback is currently at a higher level.

Despite the initial injury scare, the Packers have pulled off a 10-4 record and heading to clinch a second consecutive playoff berth. During the press conference on Thursday, head coach LaFleur showered high praise on his quarterback, stating that Love is playing better than his debut season after recovering from his knee and groin injuries

This is the best ball he’s played. Just when I look at all the little things … in terms of his ability to manipulate the pocket when he’s under duress, getting the ball to his check-downs, or whatever it may be, I think he’s playing at a really high level.

Matt LaFleur said proudly

The Packers head coach’s words are backed by Love’s stats in the past four games, where he threw seven touchdowns without a single interception. He became the second player since 1950 to record a 100-plus passer rating in the last five games in a row– after Aaron Rodgers

If anything, Love’s return after the injuries is considered good for him as he hadn’t turned the ball around since his return or thrown an interception in the last four games. In contrast, he threw a pick in each of his starting eight starts this season.

Jordan Love credits decision-making for recent success

The Packers quarterback didn’t let his injuries woe his second year as a starter after landing the lucrative extension as a reward. Despite missing two games, he is tied for the seventh rank in the league in terms of touchdown count of 25.

Previously, an interception problem in Love had been catching a lot of attention, but he shut down the pundits after not throwing a single pick in the last four games– which all ended in victories.

I think a lot of it is just decision-making, just being smarter when I have the ball in my hands, understanding that … we win a lot of games when we take care of the ball. So I think the defense is doing a great job of generating those turnovers, but it all starts on offense, just being able to play a clean game and take care of the ball.

Jordan Love told the reporters

Unlike his head coach, the star quarterback doesn’t think this is the best he is playing, though he did acknowledge his improvement compared to the second half of last season. They are now heading for a game against the New Orleans Saints on the coming Monday.
