In the last few weeks, the Ryder Cup become a major point of discussion in the golfing world. This past week, the PGA of America approved the payment of U.S. players at Ryder Cup. Former World No.1 Tiger Woods commented on this and showered support to this decision.
The compensation of the U.S. players at the Ryder Cup had been a topic of debate for a long time. The participants would get paid $200,000 which they were able to lend to any charity of their choosing.
The players now will receive $500,000 at the Ryder Cup. $300,000 will be for charity, while $200,000 will be for the stipend. This has brought out mixed reactions on social media, with many voicing their opinions regarding it.
Woods was asked about his opinion on this matter at the pre-conference of the PNC Championship. The 15-time major champion not only supported the decision but also claimed that it was a “great move” and they were heading in the right direction.

In the first round of the PNC Championship, he and his son Charlie Woods combined to shot an impressive score of 59. This performance has seen them take the share of the lead along with Team Langer and Team Singh.
Woods and his son will now look to continue this performance and claim their first victory together. They finished as runners-up in 2021 to Team Daly. A victory on Sunday would mark a first win in five years for Woods, who last won at the Zozo Championship in 2019.
