One of the major topics in golf right now is the TGL league. The tech-powered league of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will finally kick off in January 2025. In recent days, several golfers have taken turns and visited the site. A video of Billy Horschel demonstrating how a bunker shot would work in the league is now going viral. Fans do not seem impressed with it.

On Wednesday, Mike McCarley, co-founder of TMRW Sports, invited about 50 members of the media for a sneak peek at the venue. PGA Tour stars Wyndham Clark, Rickie Fowler, and Billy Horschel were also present there.

At this league, each team will start on real grass to tee off. During bunker shots, golfers will stand in a real sand area and then hit their balls. Horschel was one player who demonstrated this move on Wednesday, giving the fans a sneak peek of what to expect from this new league. Check out the video below:

This was not the first time Horschel was at the TGL arena. A few weeks ago he visited the SoFi Center in Palm Beach, Florida, and was left awestruck by the setup. The 38-year-old golfer would repeatedly use the word “unreal” to describe the venue and was seen gazing at the giant screen.

Horschel was once again left stunned. On Wednesday, he spoke about the experience of walking into the stadium and claimed that he felt like an NBA, NFL and MLB player.

The first thing I thought about was, man, I’m walking into Mercedes-Benz Stadium right about to play for the Atlanta Falcons. Like being an actual Atlanta Falcons football player. This is what it feels like on a little smaller scale. You know, you think about a basketball player, NHL player, baseball player, MLB player walking out to start the game.

Billy Horschel said as per SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio

The golfer further explained how golf is always played in open areas and that’s why they never feel like being in a confined place. He and his fellow league mates will get to experience this feeling as the arena has a seating capacity of 1,500.

Social media reacts to TGL setup at SoFi Center

For a long time, fans had been waiting for the TGL to kick off. The league was originally supposed to start in January 2024. However, damages to the roof of the SoFi Center pushed the league’s inauguration to 2025.

After the video of Billy Horschel hitting a bunker shot went viral, fans were quick to react to it. Many users on X expressed their disappointment regarding this. One fan wrote that this “looks so dumb” and hoped that they (the organizers) did not spend too much money on it.

Despite the huge criticism, there were some fans who expressed their excitement for this new league. The TGL will kick off on January 7 with the New York Golf Club taking on The Bay Golf Club.
