Jerod Mayo responds to questions about Bill Belichick poaching his coaching staff
Jerod Mayo is not concerned about his staff leaving the Patriots to coach alongside Bill Belichick in UNC.

The New England Patriots have had yet another losing season with a 3-10 record so far. As Jerod Mayo continues to figure out this role, his mentor and former Pats HC Bill Belichick has landed a new gig with the University of North Carolina.
According to the agreement between UNC and Bill Belichick, the 72-year old has the option to bring in coordinators of his choice. This means that Belichick will be on a recruiting drive for experienced coaches and there is a possibility that he may offer the job to some of the assistant coaches on the Patriots.
Jerod Mayo is not overly concerned about having his staff poached by Belichick. He expressed his happiness at Belichick taking on a new role.
The Patriots HC is no stressed about losing his men to Belichick. Not right now or after the season comes to an end.
Jerod Mayo expects Bill Belichick’s son to stay on the Patriots for the foreseeable future
Mayo’s staff comprises men that Belichick gave an opportunity to and one of them is his son Brian, the safeties coach for the Patriots. He has been on the staff since 2016. A hesitant Mayo iterated “My anticipation is that we’ll have all of our coaches so I’m not sure but again it could change,” when asked about the state of his coaching staff.
When asked about Brian Belichick and the likelihood of him staying on, the head coach stated that he preferred not to comment, suggesting it was a question best directed to Brian himself.
The current focus of the team remains to finish out the rest of the season. The safeties coach was faced with a similar question at his press conference.
He did not drop any hints at where his future might take him.
Bill Belichick has hired Michael Lombardi as his general manager and Freddie Kitchens as an Assistant Coach. There are still some notable hires of his that remain on the hunt for a job such as Josh McDaniels and Matt Patricia, in the coming days, Belichick is likely to hire them and finalize his staff.
