Ahead of the Montreal Canadiens’ game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night, former star Patrik Laine took a massive shot at them. The 26-year-old forward had some scathing comments against his ex-employers. Zach Werenski did not like these words from him and fired back.
Laine joined the Blue Jackets during the 2020-21 season. After spending almost four seasons with the team, the Finnish international requested a trade from the team. In August this year, he was traded to the Canadiens.
Monday night’s game marked the return of Laine against his former team. Speaking before the game, Laine said that he was tired of losing with them.
During the game, the fans at the Nationwide Arena would rain down boos at him. He spent over just 6 minutes in the match and was forced to leave the game after suffering an upper-body injury.

After the game, Werenski slammed his former teammate for his ‘losing’ comments. In the press conference, he labeled Laine’s comments as “unacceptable” and “bullsh*t“.

Werenski and his teammates had the last laugh in this game. In a thrilling match, the Blue Jackets once lost a 3-0 lead and fell behind 4-3 at one point. However, they turned it around late in the third period and came out as 5-4 winners.
NHL analyst Jeff Marek comments on Patrik Laine’s words regarding his former team
The words of Patrik Laine against his former team, the Columbus Blue Jackets, have become a major topic of debate on social media. NHL analyst Jeff Marek would also speak on this matter.
While appearing on a special Christmas edition of the Morning Cuppa Hockey Show, Marek said that the Blue Jackets do not have to agree with Laine’s thoughts. He expressed that this was just how Laine feels about the organization.
The Blue Jackets do not have a good history when it comes to the Stanley Cup playoffs. In their history, they have made the playoffs on just six occasions and have won just one round.
