Red Bull has finally confirmed its driver lineup for 2025. New Zealand’s Liam Lawson will race alongside Max Verstappen as Sergio Perez was ousted from Milton Keynes. Now, Lawson has recalled the time when he used to dream of such a possibility as a kid.
The 22-year-old claimed that racing for Red Bull had been a lifelong dream. Liam Lawson used to aspire to be a driver for the Austrian giant since he was just eight years old. The Kiwi driver reckoned that it had been an incredible journey to reach Milton Keynes.
Moreover, Liam Lawson thanked Red Bull’s sister team VCARB for giving him his F1 debut. The Kiwi driver had two small stints at Faenza in 2023 and 2024. Lawson will take part in a full season for the first time in 2025 with Max Verstappen as his teammate.
Liam Lawson grateful to have Red Bull’s trust
Red Bull decided to snub Yuki Tsunoda to give the seat to Lawson. The 22-year-old thanked Christian Horner and Helmut Marko for choosing him. Lawson further expressed his gratitude to the entire Red Bull family for showing confidence in his abilities. The decision to sign the Kiwi driver was taken jointly by Milton Keynes and its shareholders.
Liam Lawson will have to meet high expectations in 2025. The 22-year-old will have no margin for error with Red Bull’s cut-throat approach. However, Lawson can truly shine in Formula 1 if he manages to match Max Verstappen from the get go.
