‘Every single one of’ Stephen Curry’s SPECTACULAR scoring was needed to win gold at Paris Olympics, says Team USA coach
Team USA assistant coach Mark Few was left stunned by his star man Stephen Curry's shooting performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Stephen Curry
Team USA star man Stephen Curry stole the headlines in the 2024 Paris Olympics with his top-notch performances for his nation. Notably, Curry’s shooting abilities came on display in front of the whole world. In addition, Curry and his teammates secured his nation’s fifth historic consecutive Gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
Not only that, but Curry’s shooting abilities even left Team USA assistant head coach, Mark Few, speechless. In an interview on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd, Gonzaga head coach and Team USA assistant coach Few discussed Curry’s stunning shooting performance. Coach Few claimed that Curry’s shooting “was needed to win gold at Paris Olympics.”
It was absolutely amazing to witness firsthand, There's a reason it happened. I've never been more impressed with somebody's approach to their own individual workout...It was spectacular, I can't imagine anyone having a better shooting performance over those last two games, and we needed every single one of them.Mark Few said
This is a tremendous compliment from someone like Few, who ranks as one of the most seasoned and highly regarded coaches in the country, regardless of level. On the other hand, since becoming Gonzaga’s head coach in 1999, he has never missed an NCAA Tournament, having made 14 Sweet Sixteens, six Elite Eights, two Final Fours, and two Finals appearances.
Stephen Curry’s shooting came into play at the ideal time for Team USA
Team USA star Stephen Curry had a rough start at the Paris Olympics with his shooting but showed up when it mattered the most for his nation. Curry had received criticism from fans in prior tournament games for his bad performances. Especially against South Sudan, many people claimed he wasn’t performing as per his standards.
Curry couldn’t find his stroke or even his rhythm in that game, which the United States easily won 103-86. The Golden State Warriors player went 1-for-9 from the field, including 0-for-6 from three. In addition, Curry was taking his time to settle into his new surroundings before showcasing his true shooting ability to his world.
Fortunately, Curry found his shooting form at the appropriate time against a Serbian team led by three-time MVP Award winner Nikola Jokic. Serbian coach Svetislav Pesic had stated ahead of the game that his side is determined to win an Olympic medal and has no fear of anyone, including the Americans. Alas for them, Curry rose to the occasion with a ‘god-like’ performance, scoring 36 points to propel Team USA to the finals.
