Top pitcher Corbin Burnes finally found a new home in Arizona as he agreed on a 6-year $210 million deal with the Diamondbacks. He was one of the top players in the free markets who was yet to sign with any team.

Other than him, star pitchers Blake Snell signed 5-year $182 million with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Max Fried penned an 8-year $218 million contract with the New York Yankees. Burnes’ contract includes an opt-out after the 2026 season, as per reports.

It’ll be a homecoming for Corbin Burnes who lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. This may have been a factor in his choosing the Diamondbacks despite the San Francisco Giants’ aggressive persuasion in free agency.

The Arizona Diamondbacks rotation got a massive boost following Burnes signing for the 2025 season. Currently, some notable players in the lineup are – Zac Gallen, Eduardo Rodriguez, Jordan Montgomery, Merill Kelly, Brandon Pfaadt, and Ryne Nelson.

However, in the past few, the Giants noted how they were getting impatient during the lengthy wait period. They were considering other options in case Burnes didn’t sign with them, and now they will have to use the rest of free agency to bolster their team.

Furthermore, Giants ace Logan Webb and Willy Adames actively noted their interest in having Corbin Burnes as their teammate. Regardless the deal is sealed and the Giants will now have to face Burnes for the next few years on the opposing ends.
