AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca has been sacked by the club, just seven months after being appointed in charge. The decision to fire Fonseca came following Milan’s recent 1-1 draw against AS Roma, as he was blamed for their dismal run of performances this season. The club sits eighth on the Serie A table with 27 points from 17 matches, 14 points behind league leaders Atalanta.
Milan has endured a challenging start to the 2024-25 season. AC Milan also remains eight points away from the UCL spots, effectively putting them out of the title race. Manager Paulo Fonseca’s dismissal comes just seven months after being appointed to replace Stefano Pioli. Fonseca’s short stint at AC Milan did have some ups, including a UCL win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
However, Fonseca has experienced a greater share of lows in his Milan career. Apart from the club’s poor form, another reason for his sacking is the issues he had with some of the club’s senior players. Fonseca reportedly fell out with winger Rafael Leao and skipper Theo Hernandez.
Speaking prior to his dismissal, the 51-year-old stated that his time at Milan had come to an end. He admitted that he tried his best to help the team. The club announced its decision soon after, thanking Fonseca for his professionalism.

Meanwhile, Fonseca will be replaced by ex-Porto manager Sergio Conceicao. AC Milan have reportedly initiated negotiations with him, ahead of the club’s trip to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana. It is now up to Conceicao to turn things around for the 19-time Italian champions.
Juvents lining up a January transfer move for out-of-favor AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori
Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan center-back Fikayo Tomori in order to strengthen their defense and challenge for the title. Manager Thiago Motta is said to be keen on acquiring the Englishman on a loan deal.
The Old Lady are currently placed sixth on the Serie A table, and are struggling to find form after drawing a majority of their matches. With center-back Gleison Bremer injured, the club has now set its eyes on bringing in a replacement. AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori would be a great addition. He has fallen out of favor at Milan, and has made just 12 starts this season. He would, however, cost around €20 million.

In case Juventus fail to sign Fikayo Tomori, they have shortlisted Benfica’s Antonio Silva and Feyenoord’s David Hancko as options. Milan on the other hand, would seek to replace Tomori with Valencia youngster Cristhian Mosquera.
