Arsenal icon hints at club return similar to Thierry Henry ahead of RETIREMENT

Arsenal midfield legend Santi Cazorla surprisingly revealed that he would consider returning to his old club, following his retirement. The 40-year-old Spaniard exclaimed that he might return to the Emirates, as an assistant manager in the years to come.
Santi Cazorla is nearing the end of his two-decade long footballing career, as he enters the final year of his contract at Spanish second division side Real Oviedo. The 40-year-old veteran midfielder has enjoyed a glittering career, marked by successful stints at Arsenal and Villareal. Cazorla shares an ever-lasting bond with the Gunners and was once a fan favorite at the Emirates.
In his six years at Arsenal, he made 180 appearances, winning two FA Cups and two Community Shield titles in the process. He was in attendance of Arsenal’s recent 1-0 win over Ipswich Town in the EPL and spoke on the sidelines of the match.
Santi Cazorla praised the club’s current manager and his former teammate Mikel Arteta, for doing a great job in challenging for Premier League title.
When asked whether he would consider a return to Arsenal after retirement, Cazorla agreed to the proposition. He emphatically expressed his love for the club as well as its fans. He shared his desire to join the club in any capacity, amid rumors that he might take up an assistant managerial role beside Mikel Arteta.

Santi Cazorla might also take a path similar to that of Arsenal legend Theirry Henry. The Frenchman began by coaching the club’s youth teams, later joining the Belgian national team as an assistant manager. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen what lies ahead for the 40-year-old star.

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla most recently returned to the Emirates as a spectator during the club’s Premier league outing against Ipswich Town. Speaking ahead of the match, the 40-year-old picked his dream five-a-side Arsenal team.
A revelation under former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, Cazorla interestingly snubbed himself from the five-a-side team. The Spaniard instead named five players he admires the most. He chose three midfielders, an attacker and a goalkeeper. He first named German legend Mesut Ozil, followed by Welshman Aaraon Ramsey and Czech star Tomas Rosicky.

He completed the team by picking forward Alexis Sanchez and goalkeeper Petr Cech. Santi Cazorla enjoyed a brilliant tenure at the club, and played alongside some of Arsenal’s greatest players during his six-year stay. This includes Mikel Arteta, former skipper Laurent Koscielny, Oliver Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker.
