Max Verstappen has raced for Red Bull since the 2016 Spanish GP. The Dutch driver has become synonymous with the matte blue livery of Milton Keynes. However, the four-time world champion wants his team to change things up next season.

Red Bull Racing has kept the same livery since 2016. The matte design with the iconic ‘Red Bull’ was introduced to save weight compared to metallic paint schemes. Over the years, the Austrian team have kept the same livery, albeit running one-time special liveries on a handful of occasions.

Max Verstappen admitted that he wants the car to look a bit different in 2025. The reigning world champion revealed that he recently expressed this suggestion to the team. The 27-year-old further claimed that he did like the metallic paint schemes of older Red Bulls, during Sebastian Vettel‘s championship-winning years.

The livery, I hope it’s a bit different. I was actually talking about it today, I actually really like these cars as well [pointing at older Red Bulls behind him, ed.] with the shiny color.

Max Verstappen wants to ‘spice it up’ over Red Bull livery

The current Red Bull paint scheme is often considered a ‘modern classic’ by fans. However, Max Verstappen seems to have gotten bored of the monotony. The Dutch driver emphasized that sometimes a team should try and spice things up instead of continuing with the sea of matte blue cars once again for the upcoming season.

We’ve had so many matte-blue cars, but I think sometimes it’s just nice to spice it up a little bit.

It is unclear if Milton Keynes will take up Verstappen’s suggestion for a livery revamp for 2025. An F1 livery is dictated by several factors, including sponsorship agreements. The chassis is sometimes called a billboard on wheels, as brands pay millions of dollars to have their names on the car. Thus, Red Bull would likely continue with its same design if that is the demand of its partners.
