LA Knight is one of the top superstars in WWE. Knight captivated the audience with his charismatic promo skills and overall persona. Fans are even comparing him to the likes of The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin when it comes to character work.

Professional Wrestling career

NWA/TNA/Indies (2009-2021)

Before becoming a household name in WWE, LA Knight was known by various names during his time in the indies. Knight wrestled as Slate Randall, Shaun Ricker, Dick Rick, and other names. Before coming to WWE, Knight’s most notable came from his stints in NWA and Impact Wrestling/TNA, where he was Eli Drake. Drake won the Impact World Championship apart from winning the tag titles multiple times in Impact and NWA.

During this time, Knight would also have a short stint in WWE, where he could not go beyond the developmental phase of the company before getting released in 2014.

NXT (2021-2022)

The megastar made his return to WWE in February 2021, under the name LA Knight. Knight did not win any championships but made an impact due to his promo skills and overall storylines with the likes of Gunther, Bron Breakker, Cameron Grimes, and other stars on NXT.

Raw/SmackDown (2022-Present)

Knight made his main roster debut in January 2022 as Max Dupri, leading a stable called “Maximum Male Models.” The faction included Mace and Mansoor as the models, and Maxxine Dupri was introduced as Max’s sister.

However, the gimmick was soon dropped, and Knight morphed back to his NXT gimmick. The schtick got over pretty quickly, and Knight started getting the loudest pops on any given night. Knight had Bray Wyatt’s first match back in January 2023, where he lost to Wyatt in a Pitch Black match.

Following his meteoric rise to the top throughout 2023, LA Knight is among the top stars in WWE on the main roster.
