Looks like the Chicago Bears finally locked their decision about the offensive coordinator Shane Waldron’s future with the team. Just a day after head coach Matt Eberflus indicated that the franchise is considering Waldron’s dismissal, the Bears officially announced the firing.
NFL Network’s Tom Peliserro reported on Tuesday that the Bears have officially fired the offensive coordinator Waldron following the humiliating loss to the New England Patriots. Offensive Passing Game Coordinator Thomas Brown has been promoted to replace him for the remaining season.
Considering how last season ended for the Windy City, they spent the entire offseason strategizing and executing plans to strengthen the roster. Besides drafting Caleb Williams using the first overall pick, they enhanced their offensive line by adding strong weapons. In this attempt to improve the team, the franchise also brought in Waldron as the OC and Brown, who previously served as Carolina Panthers’ OC.

I’d like to say maybe Caleb Williams can cook now but a coordinator change doesn’t take away from that abysmal offensive line.

The situation matters. The coaching matters. The Chicago Bears wasted Caleb Williams’ rookie season; now the next move will make or break his entire future in the NFL.

Despite their hopes for a comeback this season, their plans have gone awry. With this loss, they have built a three-game losing streak and the remaining season wouldn’t be any easier as they are scheduled against teams with only a winning record, except the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17.
