Caleb Williams did not have the best rookie season with the Chicago Bears. In fact, the season turned so bad that not only head coach Matt Eberflus lost his job, but the franchise continued to lose ten straight games. Now as the focus shifts to next season, GM Ryan Poles has to find a head coach to turn it around.
That search has seen the likes of former coach Mike Vrabel as well as current coordinators such as Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson being linked. Lions DC Aaron Glenn and Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury are also some names under consideration.
Senior NFL reporter Albert Breer was covering this topic for Sports Illustrated and he compiled a list of names. One name that came up was Brian Flores, owing to his connection with Poles. Breer wrote this in his article stating.
The reporter added that the biggest problem Brian Flores will face is to lay out a plan which will convince the Chicago Bears hierarchy of his steps to avoid another Tua Tagovailoa type problem he had in Miami. The Bears want their next coach to maximize Caleb Williams’ talents.
Bringing in a coach who may not be high on their rookie QB may not be the best way forward. But considering the great things he has accomplished with the Minnesota Vikings this season, he stands a chance, especially with his connection to Ryan Poles.
Bill Belichick points at Ryan Poles for Bears problems
The next head coach will come in to the Chicago Bears with a deep pool of talent. All they need is a coach who can guide them to wins. However, former NFL head coach Bill Belichick pointed out a major problem the franchise has had this season.
Bill Belichick did not directly mention it but was dumbfounded by the way Ryan Poles built the Chicago Bears. He brought in a lot of firepower on the offensive side, but did not build a good enough offensive line to protect their quarterback. It is a far cry from the approach other playoff contenders have done.
"I don't know if the way that the Bears put their team together is the way to do it..

You go out and get all these weapons and you have no pass protection..
They play in a city that you know is gonna be tough to throw in at the end of the season"

That led to Caleb Williams ending up with the most sacks of any QB in the league. Quite the opposite effect to what Poles expected when he doled out millions of dollars to average lineman this past offseason.
