Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff talks about the team’s disappointing 2024-25 regular season performance as they fail to overcome their slump. The team has lost their 10th straight game so far in the season.
Their latest downfall came at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Scotiabank Arena on Sunday with a 5-3 score. The Sabres were leading at first but the Leafs later found their footing in the game and overtook them in a blink of an eye.
As the head coach, Lindy Ruff took full responsibility for the team’s continued winless streak and expressed he didn’t know what to say. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman noted that it was Ruff’s way of protecting his players from getting questioned after Sunday’s loss.
The team has also been down since last winning a game on November 23 against the San Jose Sharks. Ruff said that their puck decisions weren’t on point which lifted their opponents in the race.
"There are times you have to show your players you're with them."

Social media reacts to Buffalo Sabres 10th straight loss
Buffalo Sabres forward Alex Tuch said their “effort wasn’t good enough” to win the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. While their decisions and puck play went according to plan, the execution ended up being the problem.
Winger Jack Quinn talked about how this loss “stings” compared to the other nine. They were ahead of the Leafs by a 3-1 advantage but ended up losing it on a 5-3 loss.
One X user commented, “Their roster is loaded with talent who’s else f*cking fault would it be.” While another said, “Not his fault they’ve missed the playoffs since his last stint!” Check more fan reactions below:
Not his fault they've missed the playoffs since his last stint! Upper management need to hold their hands up and stop blaming lack of palm trees

Meanwhile the GM is trying to sabotage the organization and the city 😄

Start with the basics by all players playing defense that will eventually create offense.

I would be too. He is a fantastic coach but you can't get blood from a stone so to speak. They need to play better for the coach on GAME DAY

The Buffalo Sabres have lost 10 straight games. 10!! Lindy I like it Ruff. It’s time for you to head to Naples fella. Go enjoy life. You’re almost 65. Maybe an off campus managerial position in the near future. Terrence Michael Pegula now nobody has ever accused you of knowing…

It's so obvious…the GM needs to go.

He might be a great guy but he's had an obviously negative influence over this team for too long.
He's the common denominator.
How many superstar players need to be traded away & how many losses will it take before the obvious dawns on Terry?
"The hardest solve he's ever been involved in"
— Cappy 🍀🇺🇸 (@Mulligan2929) December 16, 2024
And he's been in the league how long? This says it all.
Adams needs to go….
Kinda don’t understand everyone saying “it’s a shame what we are putting Lindy through” after every damn game.
— Pizza Ranch Enthusiast (@LilSoftJock) December 16, 2024
don’t care who you are, this roster is nowhere near justifiably bad enough to lose 10 in a row. He’s doing an AWFUL job as much as the players or GMKA/terry is. Shut up
During times like these, it is important for a team to work together, however, it is simultaneously tough to remain positive. The Sabres will try to end this slump in their next game against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Tuesday.
