The Buffalo Sabres are in a massive slump at the moment. After an 11-9-1 start to the season, the team has now lost 13 games in a row. The latest team to pile misery on them were the Boston Bruins.

In the game at the TD Garden in Boston, the Sabres were once again the second-best team in the game. Goals from Brad Marchand, Morgan Geekie and Charlie Coyle saw the hosts ran away as comfortable winners in the end.

Team captain Rasmus Dahlin, who returned to the team after a seven-game absence on Friday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, did not feature in his game. As per coach Lindy Ruff, his absence from this game was pre-planned.

Earlier this week, team owner Terry Pegula paid a visit to the team after they dropped their 10th successive game. In the meet, the $7.6 billion net-worth owner of the team, backed them. He claimed that the solution to this situation was present inside the room.

Since his meet, the team has lost three more games. The loss on Saturday against the Bruins sees them pummel down to bottom spot in the entire league standings.

Following this loss, Ruff said that they “deserved better” than what they got from this game. The Sabres head coach pointed out that the team did not make the plays offensively.

I thought we deserved better. We didn’t quite the make the next play offensively… when it’s going bad, it goes bad.

Lindy Ruff said in the press conference as per NHL.com

Since their 4-2 victory of the San Jose Sharks on November 23, the Sabres have not had a positive result in their favor. While their fanbase has attacked the team management and demanded changes, the others have made fun of their current situation.

One fan pointed out that they have fallen behind Nashville Predators and are in the 32nd place and wrote, “Worst team in the league now“. Meanwhile, one fan wrote, “It’s too much to take now. Good bye season tickets“.

The Sabres now will enter the game on Monday against the New York Islanders while hoping to match an unwanted record. A defeat in that match will become their 14th loss in a row and tie their own franchise record for the second-largest losing streak (14 losses in 2014-15). Their longest losing streak is of 18 games, which took place in the 2020-21 campaign.
