The 2024 racing season marked a massive change to the career of three times Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen. He made his full-time NASCAR debut, after moving to USA, in the Xfinity series. SVG was able impress his parent team Trackhouse Racing and has landed a seat for the upcoming 2025 season in the Cup series.

The 2024 season also saw him experiencing some first ever moments of his racing career and the most recent of it was a bit scary moment. He had his first ever flip during a race and it was a serious incident. Shane van Gisbergen was at the Baypark racing in a sprint car racing event, driving for The United Truck Parts team.

SVG himself shared the video from the dashcam via his social media handles and shared his feelings about how crashed after making contact with a fellow racer. The 35-year-old champion driver admitted that it was bit of a ride and thanked the safety crew for helping him out of the car, in the situation in need.

Well that was my first ever flip! Unfortunately got collected by someone and took a bit of a ride. Thanks to the safety crew for doing an amazing job. The United Truck Parts team are having at rebuilding the car and we should be racing tonight at Baypark again.

Shane van Gisbergen shares his feelings about the big NASCAR Calander

One of the biggest differences that Shane van Gisbergen faced in his NASCAR debut was the big schedule it offers, unlike his previous series he has been part. But despite the grind it demands, SVG cherishes this as he always wanted to race more in a year in the past.

Yeah, getting to race every week was awesome…We had a couple of rough weeks in a row and it gets hard to be motivated but you need to get the momentum going which is hard because every single week is a different track…So… It’s hard to get that momentum going because the challenges are so variable. It’s pretty cool.

The comments from Gisbergen shows how much he loves racing, despite being in the final half of his racing career. He has so much left to offer, now in the Cup series and his road course racing prowess, alongside championship experience, will make him a driver to look up to from the 2025 season.
