In 2022, 6-time major champion Phil Mickelson shocked the world when he ended his 30-year stay on the PGA Tour and joined LIV Golf. Since then his game has declined a bit. The “Lefty” though has set his sights on making a push to compete at the highest level in the 2025 season.

The 54-year-old is one of the most decorated golfers. In his career, he has bagged 45 wins on the PGA Tour and has won three of the four major championships. However, he is yet to register a victory on the LIV Golf circuit.

This season, Mickelson once again struggled. In the 14 LIV Golf events he played in 2024, he managed to finish in the top 10 just once – T6 at LIV Golf Jeddah. As for the major championships, he missed the cut at the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open and finished T43 and T60 at the Masters Tournament and the Open Championship respectively.

The decline in form also led to talks about retirement. In May this year, the World Golf Hall of Famer claimed that his career was heading towards an end.

Appearing in the latest video of the Bryan Bros Golf YouTube channel along with PGA Tour star Wesley Bryan, Mickelson has now expressed his desire to make a push at the highest level.

I have not played the way I want to the last couple of yearsI’m going to make a push to compete at the highest level and that means you know fine-tuning all aspects of my game including driving, including speed, including putting, and all that, and getting my short game back to a sharp high the highest level.

The American golfer had a great rivalry with Tiger Woods. During the prime years of Woods, Mickelson was one of the few people to beat him.

Where do you have yourself on the all-time golfer list?” Bryan asked. Mickelson shook his head and refused to answer that.

I’m not going to fall for that. Not gonna fall for that one. Being baited!

During his rivalry with Woods, Mickelson managed to stay in the top 10 of the Official Golf World Rankings (OWGR) for several weeks. However, he was never able to climb up to the World No.1 position as Woods had locked in on that spot.
