“Let Bronny cook!” LeBron James’ rival has WILD proposal to trade Lakers superstar Anthony Davis

Paul Pierce suggests Anthony Davis and LeBron James trade for Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves at a crossroads once again, caught between their championship aspirations and the challenges of managing an ageing LeBron James. Amid their middling 13-12 record in a competitive Western Conference, former NBA champion and longtime rival of James, Paul Pierce, weighed in with a rather controversial solution.

During an episode of his Ticket & The Truth podcast with Kevin Garnett, Pierce proposed trading Anthony Davis and promoting LeBron James‘ son, Bronny James, from the G-League to reignite excitement around the team. ‘The Truth’ reasoned that the Lakers need to embrace a youth movement while maximizing James’ twilight years by pairing him with his son, Bronny.

You trade AD, then you bring Bronny up for the rest of the season, and let them cook.

Paul Pierce suggested

According to Paul Pierce, such a move would allow the Lakers to focus on player development (specifically Bronny James’ development) at a time when their future looks incredibly bleak. Pierce’s idea to trade Anthony Davis is certainly outlandish, but the reasoning behind it does well to justify the idea popping up in the former champ’s mind.

Pierce’s comments reflect a growing sentiment surrounding the Lakers. As currently constructed, they lack the cohesion and depth to contend for a title. Injuries and inconsistency have plagued Anthony Davis, and LeBron James approaching 40 in two weeks does not help the team’s potential to hang banner 18. Maybe, just maybe, it’s time for the Lakers to kick off their garbage sale.

LeBron James and Bronny trade rumors heat up

Rumors of LeBron James being traded, potentially alongside Bronny, would have seemed outlandish just over two months ago. However, these rumors are closer to the truth than meet the eye at the moment. With the Lakers still sitting in 10th place in the West, many have argued that the franchise is squandering James’ last few years in the league.

At 39 years old and in his 22nd season, James has little left to prove in his career. He has made clear his desire to play with his son, clearly signaling that the addition of Bronny James would be part and parcel of any trade involving him (peep LeBron James no-trade clause).

Although rumors of a reunion between Olympic teammates Stephen Curry and James have been floated, there is another team that may fit the bill.

The Dallas Mavericks have emerged as strong contenders for a potential trade to land LeBron and Bronny James. Gilbert McGregor of Sporting News speculated on such a scenario, pointing to James’ strong relationships with Mavericks star Kyrie Irving, as well as head coach Jason Kidd.
