Charles Barkley sounds off on the young Houston Rockets team despite the historic win versus the Warriors dynasty.
Charles Barkley on Houston Rockets
On Wednesday, the Houston Rockets snapped their 15-game losing streak against the Golden State Warriors, a streak dating back to 2020. After a gritty 91-90 win in a close NBA Cup quarterfinal game, the young team expected a warm welcome from both the fans and the media alike. However, little did they know about Sir Charles Barkley‘s notorious nature.
On the show, Inside the NBA, Charles Barkley took shots at the Rockets after their hard-fought victory. The ill-timed disapproval from Barkley provided little constructive criticism and was mostly demoralizing. Avid followers of the show know that Barkley is known for speaking his mind. Although some fans found his remarks harsh, others found nuggets of truth in his statements.
When Ernie Johnson asked Charles Barkley if he was impressed by the Houston Rockets’ collective effort to pull off a victory, he had a rather dismissive reply.
"They don't have any idea how to play basketball"

The Round Mound of Rebound continued, stating that the team, whose starting lineup includes three players younger than 23 years old, should learn to be more disciplined. While agreeing with Ernie Johnson about the team’s depth and talent, Sir Charles suggested that they should focus on better shot selection.
Kendrick Perkins rraises Rockets’ young core on Twitter after historic win
Following the Houston Rockets’ dramatic 91-90 win over the Golden State Warriors, former NBA player and current analyst Kendrick Perkins took to Twitter to offer high praise for the team’s young core, particularly Alperen Şengün.
Perkins, known for his candid commentary, didn’t hold back in his admiration for Sengun’s performance, calling him “Baby Jokic” for his dominant play on the court.
Baby Jokic put on a clinic tonight to lead his team to a crucial W! That damn Sengun is a MF problem

Sengun has been one of the most consistent players for the Rockets, averaging 20 plus points in his last three games. The Turkish big man displayed an array of skills reminiscent of reigning MVP Nikola Jokić. Dropping 26 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, he sure earned his praise tonight.

Next, the team is headed to compete for the Emirate NBA CUP against another formidable opponent in the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder. This semifinal matchup is the toughest by far for both teams as they look to advance further in the tournament.
