Basketball, particularly the NBA, is one of the most widely followed sports globally, with media outlets covering the league across the USA and beyond. Among them is Inside the NBA, a popular show hosted by former stars Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal, and Charles Barkley.
During halftime of the NBA Cup quarterfinal game between the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Orlando Magic, the Inside the NBA team delivered another timeless moment. Smith was on his way to the video screen in the rear of the studio to provide his appraisal of the game following a fiercely contested first half. O’Neal beat Smith to the board and tapped it lightly to end the race, as he occasionally does.
But this time around, O’Neal, who is 325 lbs and boasts a height of 7’1″ struck the ‘big board’ a bit too forcefully and broke it. Smith had to perform his analysis with the players in the upper left corner removed because splitting into the highlights didn’t improve the board. Charles Barkley used a Shrek joke to grab a laugh from the crew, but he managed to get through the part despite everyone laughing it off.

As for the game, the Bucks came out victorious against a gritty Magic team. Bucks star man Giannis Antetokounmpo starred for his side as he dropped a monstrous performance. Antetokounmpo recorded a whopping 37 points, and 7 rebounds against the Magic. The Bucks now move on to the semi-finals of the NBA Cup.
Shaquille O’Neal proves Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley WRONG on Inside the NBA show
Shaquille O’Neal and his fellow Inside the NBA panelists are known for their hilarious banter, often taking playful jabs at each other. O’Neal, for instance, frequently teases Charles Barkley about his weight, while Barkley fires back with remarks about Shaq’s fitness. However, on the December 3 episode, Shaq proved there’s still plenty of life left in his 52-year-old body.
In TNT’s Studio J, O’Neal startled fans with a fierce dunk, demonstrating that he still has some of the agility that characterized his career. The moment began with some trash talk, as is common on the show.

Kenny Smith and Barkley jokingly questioned Shaq’s ability to dunk at his age; Barkley even issued a warning. Unfazed, O’Neal removed his blazer, picked up a basketball, and stormed the studio’s in-house court with a slam.
The show’s host, Ernie Johnson, gave Shaq a standing ovation and appeared genuinely glad that he had finished the dunk unharmed. Even Barkley, who had previously expressed doubt, joined in the applause, admitting that the big man might yet have some life left in him.
