Manchester City is up against rivals Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. Ahead of the crucial fixture, manager Pep Guardiola made a bizarre comparison to basketball legend Michael Jordan while talking about injured star and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri.

The Cityzens recently lost their most recent Champions League game 2-0 to Italian giant Juventus. Revealing the fact that City only has three defenders that are fit for selection against the Red Devils, Guardiola pointed out that his side will start winning things once the players return to fitness.

As things stand, Manchester City is in 4th position in the Premier League, with 27 points from 15 outings. The club has only won one game in the last 10 matches in all competitions.

This season, we’re playing without the Ballon d’Or winner. The Chicago Bulls won six NBA’s with Michael Jordan, right? Since he retired, how many have they won?

Guardiola also blamed the tight game schedule for the injuries in his squad, thereby taking the blame off of the players, their eating habits, or the physios.

Was Ruben Amorim considered for the Manchester City job? United boss breaks silence ahead of Manchester derby

It is no secret that Amorim was linked with a move to the Etihad in the rare case that City decides to get rid of or part ways with Pep Guardiola. However, in a recent press conference, the Portuguese claimed that no such advancements were made.

Moreover, Sporting’s director of football, Hugo Viana, is set to join the Cityzens at the start of next season. This added an extra layer to the rumors about Amorim’s previous links with the club.

Never had, and this (United) was my only option. When Man United talked to me, I had no doubts, because I already had something in my mind.

The manager also clarified that there is nothing to do with the fact that Viana will take charge at City next season. As things stand, United is in 13th position in the Premier League with 19 points from 15 games.
