Draymond Green and Kevin Durant, two former teammates turned on-court rivals, stole the spotlight in the Golden State Warriors’ recent clash with the Phoenix Suns. We come back down the court and so I hit the 3 and I’m like, ‘Yeah motherf***a! I ain’t missing two in a row, K.

However, if there’s one thing for certain about Kevin Durant, he will never back down from trash talk. He responded in kind, walking down the court, and draining a three-pointer from the corner over Green.

So he started laughing, so then my dumb a** go help in, they hit K in the corner, K’s seven feet, you’re not affecting him with no shot contest late. I come flying out, I get my corner contest… Bow! He like, ‘Alright now, you know I shoot that motherf***a too now!

While Green contributed 13 points and seven assists in vain, Durant posted a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds en route to the Suns’ 113-105 victory, showcasing why he remains one of the NBA’s premier talents.

Draymond Green reveals truth behind mending relationship with Kevin Durant

Draymond Green also addressed a past incident that strained his relationship with Kevin Durant. Following Green’s suspension last season for striking Jusuf Nurkic, Durant said Green should get some help. Green has admitted that he was deeply upset by Durant’s remarks.

Damn, KD’s got my number, and you’re going to go out publicly and feed this narrative of, like, I hope he gets the help he needs, and I was upset about it, I felt a way, I was pissed.

Draymond Green said

Despite his initial anger, Green revealed that the two former teammates cleared the air over the offseason. They had a direct, face-to-face conversation where Durant explained his perspective, saying he hadn’t anticipated his comments being interpreted negatively.

I saw KD in the offseason, and we chopped it up, and man to man, face to face, we chopped it up. Told him how I felt, he told me how he felt, and he was like, damn, I didn’t think it would be seen that way, I didn’t think it would be taken that way, and we talked about it.

Draymond Green added

For Green, Durant’s words carried extra weight because of their history as teammates who won two NBA titles together. While their final season in Golden State included public clashes, their mutual respect appears to have outlasted any lingering tensions.
