Kyrie Irving has earned himself a reputation for being among the most skilled guards to have ever graced the game. Be it his smooth finishes at the rim with some English, or his crafty hesi moves- Irving’s game surely is a visual treat to a viewer. The 6’2 guard hit the go-ahead three-pointer on Stephen Curry in the 2016 NBA Finals and won the coveted Larry O’Brien trophy along with LeBron James for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Irving made another visit to the finals in 2017 but could not get past the Golden State Warriors, and was dealt away to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas. After spending 2 years at Boston, he signed with the Brooklyn Nets in 2019.

Irving’s tenure with the Nets was not without external noise and drama. From repeated trade requests to injuries to absurd suspensions, Irving has faced them all. Eventually, in February 2023, the point guard was traded away to the Dallas Mavericks. Irving has played a total of 662 games in his career, and has averaged 23.4 points per game at an efficiency of 47.2 % and a three-point percentage of 39.3.

Kyrie Irving’s current contract breakdown

Irving signed a 4 year $136,490,100 contract with the Brooklyn Nets in 2019. This is the final year of his contract and the Dallas Mavericks have not offered him a new contract as of now. The 8-time All-Star earns about $36,897,050 per annum and his contract has seen his salary increase significantly every year. The Brooklyn Nets apparently negotiated an extension with Irving, but the latter preferred a trade at the deadline.
