Pandemonium is set to ensue this week when the Golden State Warriors take on the Dallas Mavericks at the Chase Center. The two teams will face off for their first regular season matchup of the year. However, the focus will be on Mavericks sharpshooter Klay Thompson.
The former Warrior is set to make his first return to the Warriors Arena in a different jersey. Klay Thompson will be gearing up for an emotional comeback to his home of over a decade. Ahead of the game, teammate Kyrie Irving parted some crucial advice.
Irving knows better than anyone the feeling of departing from a team and returning to them in a different jersey. While Irving’s homecomings may not have been as iconic as the return of Thomspon to the Bay Area, he had some wise words for his teammate.
The biggest thing is just the human aspect of emotions. It’s just gonna be haywire, man. You don’t know how to really feel because you’ve been in a routine with another team for a long period of time… you just start reflecting on all those intentional moments where you spent time with people that really want to win, and you guys were all committed to a bigger goal.

Kyrie Irving explained the difficulties that Klay Thompson would face after returning to the Bay Area. Thompson was drafted by the Warriors and brought 4x Championships to the Dubs alongside his partners in crime, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
After departing from the Warriors over the summer to pursue a new direction for his career, Thompson will be coming back home on Tuesday, albeit in different colors. Irving explained the emotional difficulty Klay Thompson would face.
Having built a routine for over a decade in a team and then returning to play against them is always a difficult proposition. And especially for Thompson, his former teammates are not going to make it any easier on him.

For all the parties involved in the situation, Klay Thompson’s emotions are bound to be the highest. His former teammate Stephen Curry already expressed his difficulty confronting his emotions on Thompson’s return to Golden State. However, Thompson seems to be pretty blunt about his own emotions ahead of the matchup.

Thompson brushed off any questions surrounding his emotions ahead of his return to the Chase Center. He gave a nonchalant answer, indicating that he was not taking any added pressure ahead of the game. However, even though Thompson called the game ‘just another regular season game’, it’s bound to be more than that.
The Warriors and Mavericks will kick off the NBA Cup in-season tournament on Tuesday night. With all eyes on Klay Thompson’s return, this matchup promises to be a high-octane, high-stakes game.
