Luka Doncic and Shai-Gilgeous Alexander
After the Dallas Mavericks’ 104-118 rout by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Cup quarterfinals, spectators took to social media platforms to vent their frustrations against Luka Doncic and his substandard performance. Amid the barrage of hate tweets, criticism, condemnation, and censure directed at Doncic by disappointed die-hard fans and frustrated gamblers, former NBA player Quinn Cook also weighed in.
Cook took to X to share his thoughts in a now-deleted tweet. He called out anyone and everyone who compares Doncic to Jayson Tatum, declaring that it’s time to shut down the argument completely. The former two-time NBA champion expressed disbelief at what he had witnessed. Although Luka Magic is one of his favorite players from the new generation of young talent, Cook said that he could not believe what he saw.
Heading into the halftime break, the score was a close 57-54, with the Dallas Mavericks just behind OKC. However, the Oklahoma City Thunder took over the game right from the third quarter’s inception. They outscored the Mavs 13-2 and never looked back.
Fans watched the match slip out of Luka’s hands. Additionally, turnovers, missed free throws, and a lack of offensive rebounds compounded the Mavericks’ struggles, creating a sure recipe for disaster.
