In Sunday’s shootout between the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks at the Warriors’ home turf Chase Center, records were being shattered like a house of cards. Both teams combined for a total of 48 three-pointers made, setting a new NBA record.
They were putting on a show, shooting above 50% from beyond the arc. The Mavericks defeated the Warriors with a 10-point margin, finishing with a final score of 143-133.
The motives were clear from the beginning. Klay Thompson and his teammates were out for revenge after the last encounter, when Stephen Curry humiliated Klay Thompson with a ‘night-night’ celebration during his first appearance back at Chase Center since leaving the organization.
The Mavericks’ Luka Doncic was the man of the hour which undoubtedly earned him high praises from his teammate, Captain Klay. Doncic put up a 45-point triple double performance that was nothing short of spectacular. He was very active on the defensive side as well, stealing the ball three times.
The guy never ceases to amaze me. It looks like he never rushes, plays at his own pace. After this 45… there are only so many players in the history of this game who can do such things. It’s an honor to be on his side.

Luka Doncic made six three-point shots, which helped the Mavs secure a victory. The team has now won seven of their last eight games, showing confidence and chemistry second to none. The Luka-Klay-Kyrie trio combined to put up 95 points to take down the Warriors.

Though it was only the second meeting between these two teams this season, tempers were flaring, considering the history of back-and-forth between them. Mavs’ star Luka Doncic and Warriors veteran Draymond Green got into a verbal spat.
In their last face-off, Green was caught yelling “BOOOOM” in Doncic’s face after Stephen Curry’s “night-night” dagger.
This time, Luka came back with a response. They say actions speak louder than words, but Luka had both for them. The Slovenian star was yelling “Shut up” as Green was walking past him. When confronted by Green, the Mavericks guard clarified that he was talking to someone else but later reiterated, “Shut up, Dray,” in the same breath.

Draymond Green contributed 21 points, coming off the bench. Green has said before that he enjoys competing with Luka, and he shared the same sentiment after tonight’s game. He called Luka a “Typical Siberian” before instantly correcting himself, saying, “He’s not a Serbian, but he’s Slovenian. They are right there. They kind of have this nonchalant demeanor.“
For a top competitor like Luka Doncic, earning his peers’ respect is nothing new. He’s been doing this to adult men since he was a teenager back in Europe. The bombardment of threes that fans saw tonight between Doncic, Thompson, and Curry will be tough to beat any time soon. Fans got to witness an amazing night of elite shooting from deep.
