However, they most recently played against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA. Regarding this matchup, the Mavs were dealt with numerous unfortunate events. Firstly, they lost to the Timberwolves.
To add salt to the Mavs fans’ wounds, their star player, Doncic, left the game early in the second quarter due to a calf strain. The Mavericks appeared among the best teams in the West going into Christmas. They had won 13 of their previous 16 games. With the Mavericks awaiting an MRI to verify the extent of the injury, Doncic is now anticipated to lose a significant amount of time.
This development has the potential to derail the Mavericks’ season. They are presently the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 19-11 record. The Mavericks expected to move up to No. 2 in the Western Conference. That said, tonight’s defeat plus Doncic’s injury will make it difficult for them to move up the rankings.

Doncic overcame a sluggish start and has recently dominated opponents once more. He was averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 assists this season. He was working his way upward on the MVP ladder. However, his recent injury probably puts an end to both his bid for the honor and his six-year run of being selected to the All-NBA First Team.
