“Setting new bars,” Hall of Fame QB Peyton Manning lauds Patrick Mahomes after Chiefs QB’s nomination on Times 100 most influential list

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, if not the best in the league at the moment. The 27-year-old won the Super Bowl with the franchise last season, capping off an exceptional personal season for the quarterback as well.
It is no surprise that Mahomes is rated so highly even in a discussion regarding the greatest quarterbacks the league has ever produced. Given his rapid rise to the top of the pile, he has numerous fans who idolize him on and off the gridiron.
Mahomes further added another glorious achievement to his already glittering career, as the quarterback was named in the highly esteemed TIME’s list of the 100 most influential people of 2023. The list includes several other top-bracket names from all aspects of life and it was the second time that he’s featured in it after 2020. The achievement simply underlines how far Mahomes has grown as a sporting personality across the globe and the power he possesses.

Appreciating these facets of Mahomes’ game, former Denver Broncos‘ two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Peyton Manning heaped praises on Mahomes in his article on the official TIME magazine website.
“You can learn a lot about a person by the way they treat eighth-graders and ninth-graders during those hot days in Louisiana. Patrick was great with the kids. I remember his arm strength back then. It jumped out at you,” Manning wrote.
âPatrick is setting new bars,â Manning continued. âAll these young players around the country are trying to imitate his sidearm throws and incredible plays. But I hope they know heâs also an incredibly hard worker. He appreciates the cerebral part of the game. And he understands his platform, as the MVP quarterback of the Super Bowlâwinning team.â

In the regular season, Mahomes had a league-best 77.5 quarterback rating while tossing for a league-high 5,250 yards, a career record for Mahomes, and 41 touchdowns. He rushed for 358 yards and 4 touchdowns as well.
