A week after the Cleveland Browns lost Deshaun Watson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson in one game to injuries, the team had to revert to Jameis Winston. Tonight, Winston got the opportunity to make his first start for the team and it was a chance that he utilized to the maximum.

The Cleveland Browns went up against the Baltimore Ravens, one of the best teams in the NFL. They were not favorites to win the game considering their struggles throughout the season, however, Jameis Winston stepped up to the plate and came up with a clutch touchdown pass to Cedric Tillman with under one minute left on the game clock.

There was still enough time on the clock for Lamar Jackson to make a comeback but fortunately for the Browns, the team was able to contain him and win their second game of the season.

The quarterback ended his night with 334 yards and 3 touchdowns. Deshaun Watson did not have a single 300+ yard game through six games. Jameis Winston started his night off by motivating his teammates and giving them a pep talk. The quarterback was grateful for the opportunity at the end of the night. He got emotional in his post-game press conference and quoted Eminem, “You only get one shot. Do not miss your chance to blow. This opportunity lasts once in a lifetime,” from the artist’s iconic song ‘Lose Yourself.’

In light of Winston’s elite performance, Browns’ fans are cheerful once again and are hopeful that this team will manage to slip into the playoffs. Here’s how they reacted to his performance via X:

Winston did what Watson was meant to do on a nightly basis for the Browns. He did this without Amari Cooper as his wide receiver and behind the same O-line that was blamed for Watson’s poor performance, and he beat the Baltimore Ravens who were 5-2 heading into tonight’s matchup. Cleveland has some serious questions to answer before Watson is eligible to come back next season as Winston’s performance has made him the QB1 in the eyes of the fans.
