Before playing the Los Angeles Rams on Monday, Tyreek Hill made a shocking revelation regarding his arrest earlier this year. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver claimed that during the detention process, the police used so much force that he ended up injuring his wrist.

ESPN’s sideline reporter Lisa Salters spoke with Hill before kickoff and asked him to describe his season. It’s a complete 180 from last year when he led the league in receiving yards and vowed to cross 2000 yards this season, which is no longer possible.

The Dolphins remain very close to missing out on a third consecutive playoff appearance. In this scenario, the All-Pro wideout disclosed that he had been playing with a wrist injury that he suffered during the off-season camp. However, on September 8 this year, when the Miami Date police aggressively pinned him down on the ground, his injury became worse.

Fans mock Tyreek Hill for using his run-in with the police as an excuse for his bad season

Hill recorded 130 yards and one touchdown just hours later in Jacksonville, but that was the peak of his performance this season. From then on, he proceeded to record a mixed-bag campaign.

In the following games, he had 24, 40, 23, 69, 8, 72, and 80 until week nine, but did not drop a single pass. Moreover, besides his one score on opening day, Hill did not add another touchdown. So, using wrist injury as an excuse proved to be futile.

The issues at the quarterback spot did not help his cause, either. After Tua Tagovailoa entered concussion protocol, the Dolphins went through three different quarterbacks who failed to make the team tick.

Mike McDaniel’s side lost Tua’s first game after his return, ending the first half of the season with just two wins.

Hill tasted victory once more as the Dolphins restricted a tough Rams side to just 15 points. Tagovailoa wasn’t perfect. He completed 20 passes from 28 tries for 207 yards, one score, and one interception. Hill scored the only touchdown through the air on the night when Tua found him wide-open ten minutes into the third quarter. Malik Washington opened the scoring on the ground early in the game.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw 32 completions from 46 tries for 293 yards but failed to connect for a touchdown and conceded one interception. Puka Nacua had 9 receptions for 98 yards, while veteran Cooper Kupp caught 7 passes for 80 yards.
