The Philadelphia Eagles are dominating the NFC East with an 11-2 record. However, their off-field saga this season isn’t as glamorous as the off-field. There have been headlines lately about restrained relationships among the players after Brandon Graham misspoke earlier this week.
Star quarterback Jalen Hurts finally broke his silence on the ongoing controversy when inquired about it on Wednesday. He entirely dismissed the notion that his relationship with teammate AJ Brown is fractured in any sense, claiming that Graham’s comments were inaccurate and it’s nothing unusual for the team.
“We’re good, we’re good,” Hurts told the reporters about his relationship with the star wide receiver.
Brown also assured that his relationship is quarterback Hurts is just as before, given that Hurts is godfather to Brown’s daughter. Interestingly, Philly’s defensive end also clarified his statement to an ESPN reporter, saying that he misunderstood the dynamics between the quarterback-wide receiver duo when he said: “Things have changed.”
Whether Brandon was genuinely commenting on Hurts and Brown’s relationship remains a mystery, as the Eagles locker room has come together to present a unified front, emphasizing that they are just as close-knit in the locker room as they are on the field.
Jalen Hurts addresses teammate AJ Brown’s frustration following Carolina game
Although a big part of the whole controversy is the defensive end, the saga did not start with him. It started after the Eagles’ 22-16 victory against the Carolina Panthers, where their passing game was observed to be subpar.
Brown, who was wide open at various points in the game, was seen frustrated as he slammed his helmet on the sideline after not being targetted much. While addressing the media on Wednesday, Hurts acknowledged the frustration of his teammate for the lack of reps but assured his relationship was not affected because of it.
Labeling Brown a “competitive spirit,” Hurts claimed that he is used to seeing the receiver venting his frustrations if he isn’t targeted much, which affects the passing game. He finished the game with just four receptions for 43 yards and zero touchdowns.
