Caleb Williams entered the league with high hopes of becoming one of those legendary quarterbacks he grew up watching. However, he stumbled quite early in the league as his Chicago Bears struggle at a 4-10 record.
While the entire NFL and fans are questioning their credibility after enduring the eighth consecutive loss of the season, the rookie quarterback decided to highlight the positives amidst the dark clouds. After completing the Week 15 game with 18-of-31 for 191 yards and a touchdown, Williams described his rookie season as both ‘frustrating’ as well as ‘encouraging.’
It’s challenging to hope for a rainbow when ominous clouds loom overhead, yet the 2024 first-overall pick is opting to do just that as his rookie season struggles continue, with Chicago on an eight-game losing streak.

The frustrating part has obviously been the team’s eight-game losing streak as they failed to clinch a playoff berth, especially because the young quarterback has had a glorious time in college football and this early NFL struggle has completely been unfamiliar to him.
Caleb Williams reflects on pressure and performance amid struggles
Though it’s undeniable that Williams has the potential to become a star in the NFL, some of the blame for the struggling 4-10 season falls on him as well. Due to the coach’s failure to develop him, he has difficulty finding quick solutions on the field and tends to hold onto the ball too long, resulting in pressure.
“Let’s put it in this context. Say you get in three car accidents in a month, you’re going to feel it,” Williams said about the rising number of hits.
According to Next Gen Stats, the rookie signal-caller faced pressure on 42.3 percent of his dropbacks during the Monday Night Football game. In fact, he experienced the highest rate of pressure (73) on third down this season, as he was pressured 8 of the 11 dropbacks on third down.
