For Dan Orlovsky, the ‘Most Valuable Player’ (MVP) should be elevated on the basis of the player’s impact on his team. This brings down the debate between the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson, where the latter possesses better stats than the former.
When the Bills traded star wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans, it was widely considered an end to their offense’s dominance. However, star quarterback Allen’s brilliant turnaround and making the team a frontrunner for the Super Bowl cannot be described as less than brilliant.
Highlighting the Bills’ offensive prowess this season, scoring 30 and above points in nine of their eleven victories; former NFL quarterback picked his MVP favorite as Allen despite Jackson holding superior individual statistics.

According to Bleacher Report, the Bills’ star signal-caller is leading the NFL MVP race with -900 odds, followed by the Ravens’ quarterback with +500 odds. As for the stats, Allen may not lead Jackson in yards or touchdowns, but he holds a better QBR of 79.3 than Jackon’s 76.0.
Josh Allen competes for Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award
Considering the Bills’ success, which makes them heavily favored for the Super Bowl, the Pro Bowler quarterback’s name has also been selected as a finalist for the 2024 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. The prominent award is presented to a player who exemplifies outstanding sportsmanship, encompassing fair play and respect for the game.
If Allen secures the award, he will become the first player of the Bills to win the award since 2014 and will receive $25,000 to donate to any charity he wishes. The reigning victorious player is the former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner, who joined the Washington Commanders this season.
However, Allen isn’t the only finalist for the award as he is competing against his conference rival and good friend, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa, LA Raiders’ Maxx Crosby, and LA Chargers’ Khalil Mack have also been named the finalists for the award.
