Josh Allen lost sensation in his right hand in the freezing temperatures of Buffalo. Despite that, the Buffalo Bills quarterback continued to play and dragged his team to a 21-24 win over divisional rivals, the New England Patriots.
During the post-game press conference, Allen revealed getting a massive knock on his right hand. The impact left him without any sensation.

It’s unclear when exactly the 28-year-old hurt his right hand. He was briefly seen holding his right elbow on the sidelines, and momentarily Mitch Trubisky warmed up to be sent on. Trubisky never came on, so technically Allen did not miss a single snap.
Allen looked shaky in the game and completed fewer than 60% of his passes and under 200 yards (16 for 152 yards) for the first time since the week 5 loss to the Houston Texans when he battled through a concussion. A 50-yard Hail Mary pass turned interception midway through the second quarter indicated that there was something wrong behind the scenes.
Josh Allen has been playing with a broken hand for a while now
It may come as a surprise to many, but the former seventh-overall pick broke his left hand in week 1. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Allen broke his hand while completing the now-famous diving touchdown. He said he was fine after the game, but nothing showed up in the Bills injury report until a day before week 16’s game against the Patriots.
Allen has since fully recovered from the injury but WOW 😱

Is he the MVP favorite?! 👀 pic.twitter.com/y2fnBihaKX
The entire time, Allen played with a broken left hand and posted MVP-level numbers, and although his performance against New England wasn’t up to his usual standards, he still set up on receiving and one rushing touchdown (both to running back James Cook, who lodged 11 carries for 100 yards and 3 receptions for 26 yards).
The latest ESPN survey suggested that Allen leads the MVP voting.
- Josh Allen QB Buffalo Bills (-900)
- Lamar Jackson QB Baltimore Ravens (+650)
- Saquon Barkley RB Philadelphia Eagles (+1500)
- Jared Goff QB Detroit Lions (+2300)
- Patrick Mahomes QB Kansas City Chiefs (+10000)
Josh Allen in 2024 has thrown 307 completions for 3703 passing yards, 27 passing touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 103 carries with the ball, 544 rushing yards, and 11 rushing touchdowns in 16 games.
