“What a cheapskate”- Unhinged social media reactions prove Aaron Rodgers can’t sway fans’ hearts by gifting Christmas presents to Jets O-line

Aaron Rodgers gifted the Jets O-line expensive gifts for Christmas but due to his bad rapport with a section of fans, they thought it was more of a publicity stunt.

The New York Jets are 4-11 and have zero chances to play postseason football after a decade-long gap. Despite the disappointment, Aaron Rodgers did not forget to buy Christmas gifts for his offensive line (O-line).

On Monday’s episode of the Pat McAfee Show, the veteran QB revealed that he enjoys shopping during Christmas but wasn’t able to go out this time. So, he ordered a lot online that arrived night before Christmas Eve.

Although he cheekily avoided talking about the packages, one belonged to his girlfriend Brittani with an ‘I,’ so it’s entirely possible that Rodgers had the gifts for his O-line shipped to him before he handed them out.

As per ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Aaron Rodgers gifted the following to the Jets O-line

  • – A custom Tom Ford suit (a tailor twice came to the facility to take measurements)
  • – Tom Ford cologne
  • – Tom Ford sunglasses
  • – Louis Vuitton passport holder
  • – Stereo speaker
  • – Bottle of Devils River bourbon

Christmas gifts to Jets O-line aren’t enough of a cover for Aaron Rodgers’ disappointing season

Even though quarterbacks gifting their O-line became a tradition in modern-day football, it’s not a mandatory custom. Few choose not to go through with it, and that’s fine. However, there’s also a negative side to this, and it involves social media.

People tend to judge the quarterback’s intentions by the price tag of the gifts rather than the emotion. Moreover, Rodgers is a polarizing figure. Either fans adore him, or they dislike him, and there’s hardly anyone in between. Furthermore, the Super Bowl winner’s recent actions of calling out his ESPN colleagues, besides the bad season rubbed people the wrong way.

After the contents of Rodgers’ gifts were revealed, fans branded the move as a publicity stunt to hide the bad year the 41-year-old has had with the Jets.

The Jets still have two games left this season—both against divisional opponents. On week 17, Rodgers and the Jets will travel to the Meadowlands and play the 12-3 Buffalo Bills and finish off the campaign by hosting the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium.

After that, it’s anyone’s guess what happens with Rodgers in New York. Even though he still wants to continue for a couple more years, the final decision will rest upon the new management and teenage owners.
