San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch shared optimistic news about running back Christian McCaffrey‘s progress. However, he didn’t add any potential timeline for McCaffrey’s return to action.
Although there were some speculations about Christian McCaffrey potentially rejoining the San Francisco 49ers for their match against the Kansas City Chiefs. However, it was ruled out as the team seemed to wait until the bye week to take a decision. They haven’t activated McCaffrey’s practice window yet, choosing to keep him on the sidelines.
Speaking on a Friday morning appearance on the Bay Area radio station KNBR, Lynch expressed that they aren’t rushing anywhere with McCaffrey’s return to avoid any setbacks. He also admitted that there haven’t been any setbacks either.
Christian McCaffrey, the reigning Offensive Player of the Week, has been out of action since the first game. After missing the first game, McCaffrey was placed on Injured Reserve. It was initially thought to be a calf issue, later revealed to be Achilles tendonitis. Further news stating that it was a bilateral Achilles issue increased the gravity of the situation.
The San Francisco 49ers are barely hanging onto the top position in the NFC West. After two divisional losses and one against the Minnesota Vikings, the San Francisco 49ers are 3-3 after six weeks into the season. They play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday for the Super Bowl revenge match without McCaffrey.
John Lynch shares Christian McCaffrey’s backup would be up and running on Sunday after injury scare
The San Francisco 49ers have been using Jordan Mason as a replacement for Christian McCaffrey. Although Mason won’t be McCaffrey, he has taken on the role admirably well. He leads the franchise with 609 rushing yards, ranked second in the whole league from six games. However, the Niners were dealt with an injury scare.
Jordan Mason suffered an AC joint sprain in last week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Although Mason has been limited in practice, his condition is improving. GM John Lynch provided some positive updates on the running back as well.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan also expressed optimism regarding Mason’s availability for this weekend’s matchup against the Chiefs. Shanahan expressed that Mason has the experience to come back from this sort of injury before. He further added that he thinks Jordan Mason will be good by Sunday.
