After weeks of dilemma and unsatisfactory responses, the San Francisco 49ers have now given a solid statement on running back Christian McCaffrey‘s return. McCaffrey, the reigning OPOY has missed all Niners games this season.

The San Francisco 49ers are facing trouble after falling 3-4, thanks to a no-show performance against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The 49ers are tied with the Arizona Cardinals, who defeated the Niners at home, in the NFC West. The Rams, who have played a game less, are also very near to pushing San Francisco down to fourth.

Christian McCaffrey was placed in Injured Reserve in Week 2 with what was initially thought to be a calf issue. Later, it was revealed that the player suffered bilateral Achilles tendonitis. McCaffrey’s father, Ed McCaffrey, reasoned that the injury probably developed from his son’s tendency to overtrain.

John Lynch expressed a week ago that McCaffrey has been doing good without any setbacks. McCaffrey had been to Germany for a special treatment similar to what Kobe Bryant did back in the day. Kyle Shanahan, the Niners’ coach, has now given an expected timeline to see McCaffrey in action.

Adam Schefter, NFL Insider, revealed that Shanahan would be surprised if McCaffrey could play against the Dallas Cowboys. He, however, added that McCaffrey could be expected back in action following the bye week.

The San Francisco 49ers will not be playing in Week 9, returning to play at Raymond James Stadium against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 10.

Christian McCaffrey’s update a ray of sunshine in the storm

Despite Christian McCaffrey’s absence, San Francisco continues to excel in the run game, averaging 149.9 rushing yards per contest. Backup Jordan Mason is the league’s second-leading rusher.

However, the 49ers’ offense is also grappling with several key injuries: Deebo Samuel (illness), Brandon Aiyuk (torn ACL), George Kittle (sprained foot), and Jauan Jennings (hip). Brandon Aiyuk’s injury seems like a season-ender, creating more headache for the team. As the league closes in on the halfway mark, McCaffrey returning would be a welcome blessing.

Quarterback Brock Purdy could be missing his top four offensive weapons for some time at least. The player’s strength was one of their best prospects walking into the season, which can’t be said now. The San Francisco 49ers are playing the Dallas Cowboys coming week looking to restore the record back to .500.
