In the first quarter of the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin had an animated reaction. Tomlin, one of the most experienced and successful active NFL coaches, wasted no time delivering a fiery, expletive-laden message to a referee amid the mounting penalties.

With about four minutes left in the quarter, cameras caught the Steelers’ head coach having what started as a seemingly calm sideline chat with down judge Derick Bowers. The topic? The Steelers’ escalating offensive penalties. But as the conversation unfolded, it was clear that Tomlin wasn’t exactly in the mood for small talk!

As Bowers continued explaining the Steelers’ infractions, Tomlin’s expression grew increasingly incredulous. The coach eventually began backing away from the down judge, appearing to deliver a blunt six-word message:

With a dismissive wave of his hand, Tomlin turned and walked off, cutting the conversation short before it could escalate any further.

The Steelers clinched a playoff spot despite a 27-13 loss to the Eagles, thanks to losses of the Dolphins and Colts. This marks their second straight postseason appearance and the 12th under head coach Mike Tomlin in his 18 seasons.

At 10-4, Pittsburgh leads the AFC North by just one game after the Ravens’ win earlier. The Steelers face a tough end to the regular season, with games against the Ravens, Chiefs, and Bengals. While their playoff spot is secured, the team now aims to win its first postseason game in years.

Tom Brady thinks Mike Tomlin is a great coach, calls him a perfect fit for Russell Wilson

A significant part of the Steelers’ success this season can be credited to Russell Wilson’s stellar performance in his first year with Pittsburgh. Since returning from a preseason calf injury, the veteran quarterback has quickly become one of the top QBs this season. Wilson, after exiting Broncos, is finally looking lot like the Seattle Seahawks QB who led them to their first Super Bowl in 2014.

Tom Brady, who was on the call for Sunday’s game in Philadelphia, broke down what he thinks makes Tomlin the perfect coach for Wilson ahead of the game.

When you have a great coach, they bring the best out of you and Coach Tomlin does that. He has such a unique way of connecting with his players. Russell gets there and he challenges Russ. He knows kind of the right things to say at the right time. That’s very rare in the NFL. When you’re not treated just like one of 53 it makes you go out there and play harder. You feel the love. You feel the caring and then you want to go out there and never let your coach down.

Russell Wilson has won seven out of nine duels since starting in for Justin Fields, who also had a good record to his name before being sidelined for Wilson. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, his head coach in New England Patriots, is one of the venerated coach-athlete duos in the history of the league winning six championships together.
