When Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, many expected him to follow the path of Tom Brady and win a Super Bowl with his new team. Even though his first season did not go as planned, this season, he was supposed to finally get into the conversation of being as good as the GOAT.
But as the season progressed, their losses suggested the team was not functioning to their best. The team then took decisions to give their quarterback his optimum environment. First, they fired head coach Robert Saleh and traded to reunite him with close friend Davante Adams.
That should have resulted in wins, but instead, losses started piling up and eventually, the Jets were thrown out of playoff contention. Aaron Rodgers then suggested that he would lead the team to finish the season strong.
Earlier today was their Week 17 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. With his reputation and future on the line, Rodgers was expecting to have a strong outing. Instead, he had a disastrous game and could not even get his team into scoring positions.
In that outing, he did however notch one record with which he surpassed Tom Brady. In the dying seconds of the third quarter Rodgers was sacked by Bills D-tackle Ed Oliver which ended up becoming the 566th sack of his career.

That helped him surpass Brady to be the most sacked QB ever in NFL history. More importantly, he did it in 88 fewer games than the seven-time Super Bowl winning coach. The four-time league MVP though, did not stop there when it came to highlight reel plays.
Aaron Rodgers gets bizarre penalty after second interception
Aaron Rodgers’ numbers for the night were a grand total of 112 yards and two interceptions out of three quarters of football. That netted him a QBR of 1.2, marking it the worst number by a starting QB all year. That outing did include one play that brought out a chuckle from an official.
After his second interception earlier in the third quarter, Rodgers tracked Buffalo Bills cornerback Christian Benford who was trying to return the pick. With Breece Hall trying to slow him down, Benford ran towards the sideline. Right at the end of that run, Rodgers still tracking the corner gave one last push.
The bizarreness of it was that Benford was already out of bounds, which meant Rodgers drew out a penalty flag for his late push. The official called it an ‘unnecessary roughness penalty’ and awarded the Bills 15 yards.

The humiliation did not stop as the Jets benched him after taking his Tom Brady surpassing sack. What happened next probably will leave the New York Jets hierarchy with a lot to think about. Backup QB Tyrod Taylor went in and threw two touchdowns in just one quarter.
That helped the franchise avoid a shutout as the Bill eventually won 40-14. With all the discourse surrounding his criticism of ESPN analysts, this was not the game he would have wanted. Now questions about his future will start growing louder.
