Daniel Ricciardo was sacked midway through 2024 by RB in favor of Liam Lawson. It seemed that no team was willing to sign the Australian again. Though rumors emerged that F1’s upcoming team could be ready to take a bet on the Honey Badger for 2026.

American auto giant General Motors will enter the sport in 2026 with the Cadillac brand. It was believed that Daniel Ricciardo was at the top of the list for the carmaker. However, as per reports, Ricciardo has dismissed such a possibility.

Cadillac taking over Andretti’s F1 efforts

General Motors was supposed to be partner to Michael Andretti’s Andretti-Cadillac bid. However, the former racing icon faced backlash from the existing grid and eventually stepped away from the project. Now, Cadillac has formally taken over the racing entity.

UK’s Companies House has confirmed the name change of the entity from Andretti Racing Ltd. to Cadillac Formula Racing Ltd. The request was made on December 12th and was accepted the following day by the authority.

Cadillac has high ambitions for Formula 1. The American giant might not have Daniel Ricciardo at their disposal for 2026. Though, IndyCar star Colton Herta is often named as a potential candidate. It remains to be seen how GM’s project evolves before joining the grid in two years.
