With a strong sense of interest and enthusiasm, CEO Dana White has ushered UFC to new heights. For one, his sense of thematic celebration is such a favoring factor. UFC 306 (also Noche UFC 2) is one such event that will take place on Mexican Independence Day. It takes place on Sep. 15 at ‘The Sphere’, Las Vegas. Close friend and veteran commentator Joe Rogan gives the scoop on White’s preparation.
White floated the plan to bill the Las Vegas Sphere as the spot for UFC 306 in an all-Mexican affair. The multi-billion marvel is retro-fitted with LED panels that broadcast live imagery, like a massive round planetarium-jumbotron. Concurrently, ESPN MMA plans to do a documentary on the event for exclusive streaming and broadcasting grinds. Joe Rogan hyped up the event by revealing what was in store.
So they're doing a UFC [event] there, in September...I mean they're they're essentially planning for that [LED templates]... different than they've planned...for any other event. Dana told me they've already spent $9 million preparing for September's event...Joe Rogan via The JRE #2139
The Las Vegas Strip and ‘Sphere’ belong to the Madison Square Garden Company, famed for hosting Pay-per-view combat sports events. With an ESPN MMA (@espnmma) coverage stream exclusive documentary happening, the idea of Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano II was floating by. However, an overzealous White dubbed down close friend Eddie Hearn’s aspirations of hosting the premiere combat sports spectacle.
According to Rogan, Dana Whtie already had big plans for the event. As for pre-fight optics, Rogan teased that White already has Max Holloway in mind. Holloway landed a fateful overhand at 4:59 in the buzzer-beating BMF title fight at UFC 300.. Already in awe of it, White might subsequently feature the montage on the LED panels of the Sphere.
Who could headline UFC 306 at The ‘Sphere’?
UFC & MMA commenter Joe Rogan recently mentioned the fact that Dana White has spent $9 million on UFC 306. Contrastingly, that is just for the venture itself. The Mexican Independence Day affair subsequently takes place at The Sphere in Las Vegas. Highlighting an All-Mexican affair, native combatants can be expected to feature the PPV card. The question is – who?
The foremost but most unlikely name floating around was Ilia Topuria; no — not a Mexican by any means. However, scuffling with featherweight Max Holloway, the Alicante-Georgian native presented Brian Ortega as a possible challenger. The #3 ranked featherweight is from Hermosillo, Mexican descent, and it makes sense.
UFC 300’s Waianaese sensation, new ‘BMF’ Max Holloway, is also rumored to return. Holloway and his point-to-the-canvas trading blows have bloomed to new heights. While not nearly Mexican, his inclusion simply turns up the hype. While unorthodox, even Sean O’Malley and Brazilian 145lber Diego Lopes have expressed interest.
The current UFC women’s flyweight champ Alexa Grasso hails from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. She will face her old rival Valentina Shevchenko as the co-coach of TUF: Season 32. Production has already begun for the season, with the duo slated for a trilogy bout after it airs. Consequently, the Mexican champ and her opponent might meet and square up at UFC 306. All in all, there are a lot of possibilities for UFC 306.
