Max Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull that extends till the 2028 F1 season. However, rumors have persistently emerged over the Dutchman potentially leaving Milton Keynes for a team like Aston Martin. Now, the 27-year-old has tried to shut down such speculation.
A few weeks ago, reports emerged that Verstappen was holding discussions with Aston Martin for a switch in 2026. Aero genius Adrian Newey has already left Red Bull to join the Silverstone-based squad next season.
Max Verstappen made it clear that he has not talked about such a possibility with Lawrence Stroll‘s team. So much so, that the reigning world champion insisted that he has not even entertained such an idea so far. One must note that Verstappen does have an exit clause which could allow for such a move before 2028.
Max Verstappen not focused on 2026 rules
Formula 1 will go through a major rule change in 2026. Aston Martin is being touted as a potential favorite for the shake-up. The British team will become a works squad by bringing Red Bull’s current supplier Honda. While Newey’s skills would further boost its prospects. However, Max Verstappen mentioned that he has not really focused on the regulation change for now.
It is likely that Verstappen will stay part of Red Bull for 2026. The reigning world champion has often shown his confidence within the team. Though, Formula 1 is full of surprises. If Milton Keynes struggles next season, fans can potentially hear some shocking news from Max Verstappen.
