Red Bull driver Max Verstappen currently leads the 2024 drivers’ championship by 59 points to second-placed Lando Norris. However, Norris has proved himself as the better performer in the past few races.
Max Verstappen has greatly struggled to find pace and balance in the RB20, failing to win in any of the last seven races. On the other hand, Lando Norris has been formidably fast in the MCL38, helping the Papayas to take over the lead of the Constructors Championship.
Despite his undermining spell, Verstappen is confident of bagging the drivers’ title this year as well. He claims that McLaren and Norris would need to have perfect results in order to topple his lead in the championship.
I think if we do a better job ourselves, they need to have a perfect end to the year. I mean, the gap is still decent, I would say. So, of course, at the moment it’s still just Lando.Max Verstappen via Pitdebrief
The Milton-Keynes-based team will have to work collectively as a unit to find solutions to their issues here on. A failure to do so might immensely help Norris and Co. in achieving their lofty targets for the ongoing campaign.
Lando Norris praises McLaren upon securing the win at Baku
McLaren holds a 20-point lead over Red Bull after having claimed P1 and P4 in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Lando Norris has thereafter shared his thoughts on the team’s achievements post-race on Sunday.
Outscored Red Bull again, which is exactly what we were hoping to do, and actually [we were] the top points scorers as a team which was not something I think many people would have bet on before the race. A very strong race, the car was amazing today and that gives us a lot of confidence going into the next few races.Lando Norris via Formula1
The 24-year-old claims that his team defied all odds to claim their fourth win of the season in Baku. Norris then said that the Woking-based outfit has the utmost faith to persistently deliver good results in every race from here on.
The Papayas have been outstanding in managing their strategies and pace regardless of the track or conditions this year. The remaining races of the season will require them to uphold their good form if they wish to amass both world championships.
