If there is one thing that Deion Sanders has proven, it is that he can turn any football program around. From bringing in a winning culture at Jackson State to doing the same at the University of Colorado, Coach Prime has considered the career progression and needs of his sons while deciding where to coach next.

As his sons Shedeur and Shilo Sanders embark on their NFL journey, there has been a lot of speculation suggesting Deion Sanders would use this chance to secure a Head Coaching gig in the league. However, Coach Prime has put an effective end to these rumors by making it clear that his heart lies in Colorado.

I love where I am. I am elated where I am. I am happy where I am. I can’t wait to see what the future beholds with where I am and I love Boulder Colorado so I have every intention, every plan in the world to be coaching for the Colorado Buffs from here on. I want to finish here, I want to put the flag, I want my name on the mountains out there. I want to put my flag down in Colorado.

His response has put the rumors of his departure from Colorado to assist with the careers of his sons.

Deion Sanders is disinterested in the prospect of coaching an NFL team

For the longest time, Coach Prime has been coaching the game of football to young athletes. From his preferences, it is clear that he likes to groom players and coach them when they are making the transition from student-athletes to professional athletes. It becomes critical for these young men to be in a system that teaches them discipline and accountability.

That is what Deion Sanders brings to the table, he is not just another Head Coach. ‘Prime’ prioritizes turning these athletes into responsible men first. To him, football is important but teaching his players the lessons of life and developing a work ethic holds more precedence.

This off-season will be critical for Deion Sanders as he will lose his star quarterback in Shedeur, an elite wideout/defensive back in Travis Hunter, and an able corner in Shilo Sanders. Fortunately for him, top recruits will be considering the Colorado Buffaloes as they will get an opportunity to learn from a legend.
