The Chicago Bears have had a rough stretch over the past few weeks. Despite the team’s dismal 4-7 record this season, things are looking upbeat for the team in the long run. All credit goes to rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
The first pick of the 2024 draft has had his fair share of ups and downs, but he has acclimated himself to the level of play in the NFL.
In Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, Caleb Williams created history after he broke Mitchell Trubisky‘s record for most passing yards thrown by a quarterback in his rookie season for the Bears franchise.
Williams’ performance of 340 yards and 2 touchdowns helped him set the record. Despite the overtime loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the rookie quarterback showed flashes of brilliance on offense. He showed fans that the hype behind him is true.
He completed 32 of 47 passes with a 103.1 passer rating, delivering his second strong performance since Thomas Brown took over as offensive coordinator, replacing the dismissed Shane Waldron.

The highlight of the night for the rookie was when he scrambled across the pocket and, with the defensive line just inches away from him, threw the ball while he jumped with both his legs in the air. It resulted in a 30-yard completion to D’Andre Swift.
In the preceding play, Williams threw a bullet pass despite having a tight window. Both these plays displayed his elite playmaking skills and his accuracy traits that resulted in him being drafted number one overall. He has shown leadership in the locker room and is now backing up his talk on the field as well.

The Chicago Bears’ season is likely headed nowhere. Despite the team’s failure to make the playoffs, it is safe to say the organization found itself a solid franchise quarterback.
The team’s offensive line remains a point of concern as Williams is one of the most sacked players this season alongside CJ Stroud.
